An electronic visa (e-visa) is a digital alternative to visa stickers or stamps in your passport. It\’s a convenient option as it removes the need for physical paperwork or in-person visits to embassies. Instead, you can apply online, submit your documents, pay the visa fee, and receive your e-visa via email. 

How to apply for an e-Visa

The e-visa process is straightforward and usually follows these steps:

  2. Complete the online application form with personal details, travel plans, and passport information.
  3. Upload the required documents– typically a passport-sized photo, a scan of your passport\’s bio-data page, and sometimes flight and accommodation details.

  5. Once submitted, the processing time ranges from a few hours to several days, depending on the country. The approved e-visa will be sent to your email.
  6. Print or download as most countries will require you to carry a printed or digital copy of the e-visa to present upon arrival.

Ethiopia

South Africa

South Africa’s e-visa system charges around $84 or $23 depending on whether you use the VFS or Department of Home Affairs platform. Applicants must provide a passport with at least two blank pages, a passport-sized photo, proof of accommodation, and a return flight ticket. E-visas can take up to a week to be processed.

Zambia

For Zambia, the e-visa fee is $69 per person for single entry. This typically takes 9 days but can be processed faster for an additional fee. Applicants need a valid passport, passport-sized photo, and a return flight ticket. 

Uganda

Uganda charges $50 for its e-visa, with a typical processing time of 3-5 days. Requirements include a passport with at least six months of validity, a passport-sized photo, tour plan, travel itinerary/booking, proof of accommodation, and proof of yellow fever vaccination.

Malaysia

The e-visa fee for Malaysia is about $30. The process requires a valid passport, passport-sized photo, and proof of return travel and accomodation. 

Vietnam

Vietnam offers e-visas at $25 for single entry. Applicants must submit a valid passport, digital passport photo, and proof of onward travel. The visa is usually processed within 3 working days and allows stays of up to 30 days.

Albania

Georgia
