Why Singapore should be on your travel bucket list
If you’ve never thought about visiting Singapore, let’s change that today. And if it’s already on your bucket list? This is the nudge you’ve been waiting for.
Singapore is one of those places that feels like stepping onto a different planet. It’s clean, safe, organised, and full of energy. Despite being a small island country, there’s so much to see and experience that you’ll be surprised by how much you can fit into just a few days.
So what’s the hype really about? Let’s break it down.
Delicious food
Singaporeans don’t play when it comes to food. The hawker centers are legendary. You’ll find dishes that are a fusion of Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Peranakan flavours. And they are not ordinary, you’ll find Michelin-starred restaurants here because the food is that good.
Stunning architecture
The skyline in Singapore is something else. From the iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel to the futuristic structures around Gardens by the Bay, every building has a personality. Walking around the bay at night also feels magical as everything is lit up in a way that makes the whole city glow.
A cultural melting pot
Singapore is a cultural mix of Indian, Malay, Chinese and more. You get to experience Asia but with more accessibility for English speakers. Strolling through Chinatown or Little India gives you a taste of how diverse Singapore really is. And if you’re a museum person, you’re covered. There are tons of art, history and science museums to be uncovered.
Green spaces you’ll actually want to explore
For a place that’s so modern, Singapore has done a beautiful job of merging nature with city life. The Singapore Zoo is one of the best in the world, and Jurong Bird Park is a treat, especially for families or nature lovers.
Then there’s Gardens by the Bay, which is as beautiful as everyone says. Visiting at night is something else. The Supertree Grove lights up to music in a free light show that feels like a scene from a movie.
Worldclass transport system
Getting around Singapore is a breeze. The MRT (subway) system is clean, fast, and easy to understand, even if you’ve never been on a train before. And for those who like to take in the sights while moving around, the buses are also great and give you a real feel for the city.
Plus, as an English-speaking country, communication isn’t a problem at all. Signs, directions, and announcements are all in English.
Safe, clean, and organised
Singapore is one of the safest countries in the world. It’s clean, well-run, and everything just works as expected. That peace of mind adds so much to the experience.
You get a lot in a short time
Because Singapore is a small island, you can see a lot without spending too much time in transit. Whether it’s shopping at Orchard Road, hanging out at Clarke Quay for drinks, exploring neighbourhoods, or relaxing at Sentosa Island, nothing is ever too far away.
Want to experience all this and sneak in some learning for your kids?
This summer, Leryhago is heading to Singapore for a family-friendly STEM adventure. From 27 July to 5 August 2025, we’re taking families on an exciting, hands-on journey through Singapore’s science museums, innovation hubs, and tech-forward attractions.
It’s designed with curious young kids in mind, but there’s plenty in it for the adults too. While the kids are building robots or exploring space exhibits, you’ll be “supervising” (read: enjoying hawker centre lunches, taking breezy walks by the bay, and maybe even squeezing in a cocktail or two). Win-win.
Whether you’re a parent, aunt, uncle, or guardian, it’s the perfect way to mix learning and leisure.
